Instructors

The Washington Fencing Academy has several professional coaches and instructors available for your fencing classes and private instruction. We are also staffed by a team of professionals to manage club operations and your membership. We are dedicated to giving you the best-possible fencing experience and enjoyable club membership. All instructors are active members of USA Fencing, have passed a background check, and renew their SafeSport training yearly.

Mark Lundborg

Head Coach, Moniteur
CEO of WFA

Mark Lundborg joined the WFA in 2013, and has been fencing for over two decades. He holds the instructor rank of Moniteur.

In 2019, Mark took the gold medal at the World Veteran’s Cup, becoming the World Champion for Men’s Saber in the Vet 50-59 category. In 2022, when the World Championships returned after multiple cancellations due to COVID, he once again took the gold medal in the Vet 60-69 category, making him the current World Champion for that age group.

Mark teaches intermediate and competitive level classes, and offers private lessons in saber.

Angie Bongaarts

Instructor
Administrator

Angie joined the WFA in 2015, began teaching in 2016, and and took over administrative work in 2017. She is in the process of obtaining her Asst. Moniteur certification.

Angie teaches beginner and intermediate level classes, and assists with the WFA Team.

Jianna Braza

Instructor, Camp Counselor

Jianna began fencing in high school in New Jersey, during her freshman year. She joined WFA after moving to Washington. She currently attends the University of Washington and is planning to pursue a degree in informatics, with a minor in education. She hopes to one day teach Computer Science.

Jianna teaches beginner level classes. In addition to fencing, she enjoys playing video games, listening to music, and baking.

 

Ethan Miller

Instructor

Ethan has been fencing since he was about 7 years old, and has been with the WFA for the last 6 years. In the past, Ethan has been one of the lead camp counselors. Ethan teaches beginner and intermediate level classes.

Kiki Kalisova

Asst. Instructor

Kiki has been fencing with WFA for 7 years. She regularly ranks in her division regionally. She hopes to continue fencing when she goes to college, where she plans to major in biology. In addition to fencing, she enjoys baking, crocheting, and taking care of her dog Dizzy.
