Beginning Saber

Our beginner classes focus on teaching the basics of fencing: footwork, balance and form, blade position, and offensive and defensive actions for the saber. Beginning classes are 45 minutes in length. Equipment is included in our Bronze, Silver, and Gold Membership packages for beginner level students, so you have everything you need to get started. Enrollment is rolling, so you can start whenever is convenient for you!

Youth Beginning Saber (ages 8-12)
Teen/Adult Beginning Saber (ages 13+)

Beginner classes are offered 3 days a week, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Attend any available beginner class each week—you are not locked into one specific day. We understand that your schedule is flexible, so we made ours flexible too!

On the fence about starting? Check out our free introductory session! It will get you set up with the most basic information—stance, movement, attacks, and parries — so you are ready to jump into lessons with confidence!

Intermediate Saber

Intermediate level classes focus on what you need for competition: improving footwork and body mechanics, understanding and using right of way, tactics and strategy. Students who wish to compete are encouraged to attend open fencing sessions so they are ready to begin competing at tournaments held in the greater Seattle area.

Youth Intermediate Saber (ages 9-12)
Teen/Adult Intermediate Saber (ages 13+)

Intermediate Saber classes are offered 3 times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Requirements: test in or instructor approval; own equipment required

Advanced Saber

Advanced saber classes focus on high level competitive training, including advanced footwork, reflexes, body mechanics, and bladework, as well as tactics and strategy.

Advanced Saber classes are offered 2 times a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays. Students are encouraged to attend both classes each week, as well as open fencing sessions and competitions in the Seattle and Portland, OR areas. Competitive students are encouraged to also take advantage of our Regional Team program. Taught by Mark Lundborg and Ethan Miller.

Requirements: invitation only, advanced-level test, own competitive equipment required

By invitation only.

Open Fencing - Intermediate level and higher

Open Fencing is included in your monthly membership once you reach intermediate level.

Open Fencing gives you the opportunity to practice what you learn in class in a more competitive setting. Attending open fencing is essential if you are competing or planning to begin competing. We host 3 sessions per week:

  • Monday: Advanced and veteran students/competitors, age 13+

  • Tuesday: Youth intermediate+ fencers (Y10–Y14)

  • Thursday: Teen/adult intermediate+ (Cadet and above)

Students are required to have their own training equipment, including lame, cords, electric mask and electric glove.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are a great way to advance quickly in the art of fencing. Fencers who want to become competitive benefit from private fencing lessons. For some students, a private lesson schedule may work better than the group lesson times.

We have a team of qualified instructors and coaches who provide students with private instruction.

Private Lessons are available by appointment only.

Rates vary by instructor. Members should visit the member area for more details.
