WFA Regional Team

WFA REGIONAL TEAM

The WFA Regional Team Program exists to develop fencers who are competitive at the regional level and prepared to qualify for national events. Our goal is to support athletes with structured training, consistent competition opportunities, and comprehensive coaching, both on and off the strip. We focus on enhancing both physical and mental performance, with a clear progression path toward national-level success. Our mission is to develop fencers who are confident, competitive, and prepared for success at the regional and national levels—through expert coaching, structured training, and a supportive path to high-level competition.

To support families, we've bundled costs into a 9-month season plan that includes unlimited classes, strip coaching and shared travel costs at pre-selected events, and Team-only perks to help spread the costs out. This streamlined approach ensures our athletes have access to high-level training while parents are guided through the often-complex landscape of competition. When you join the Regional Team, you are committing to a minimum of 1 trimester (3-month) window of competing with the WFA team. Trimesters run September through November, December through February, and March through May.

To be eligible for inclusion in the Regional Team Program, students should already be competing regularly at the local level, and be ready to compete, or already competing, at the regional level or higher. If you have not achieved this level yet, don’t worry! We support students who are just beginning their competitive career with strip coaching at local level events (available on a per-event basis; please let us know that you are competing in advance!) as well as through training at our intermediate level classes and open fencing sessions. If you are just beginning your competitive journey, be sure to talk to the coaches for guidance on what tournaments and events you should be signing up for. Be sure to check out our gear page to ensure that you have everything that you need before heading to your first tournament, and check out our blog articles which are designed to help you understand the competition landscape and prepare for your first competitions!

If you are interested in joining the WFA Regional Team program, please contact us! You must notify us before the start of the trimester (September 1, December 1, and March 1).

An informational meeting for anyone planning to compete this year, whether you are just starting out or as a member of the Regional Team, will be held at the gym on August 31, at 3:30pm.
